Abstract

ABSTRACT The author recounts some memorable incidents over his fifty years of child and youth care work. He reflects on their implications for his personal fulfillment, the role of childcare workers, the functions of psychopathology in the lives of the individual, and finally on the goals of residential treatment and how programs are structured to achieve them.
