Abstract

In the coming future, the current network is going to change from fourth generation (4G) to fifth generation (5G) as the requirements for high speed and secure network will increase. The current 4G network, addresses the need for improved data rates, increased bandwidth, better quality of service and low latency. The paper discusses the 5G networks and the component it uses to operate like MIMO antenna arrays, beam forming technology that transmit the signals directly to end users. Further, a comparison of 5G network with the previous network technologies is also provided. It recognizes the need of 5G networks in the coming years and mentions the various changes it can do for operating IOT devices and self-driving cars, which are only possible through 5G networks. Along with this, the paper also discusses opportunities that 5G provides for the various new technologies and the challenges 5G will be facing for its operation.
