Abstract
In this work we analyse the field effect in granular metal films and propose acurrent-switching device utilizing this effect. It is shown as a result ofnumerical modelling that efficient current modulation can be achievedin thin granular films if the ratio between charging energy of granulesEc0 andthermal energy kTis not less than 10 and the amplitude of the random potential is low compared tothe charging energy.
