Abstract

Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis is a rare condition in which a periaortic fibrosis plate is generated and traps the ureters in a high percentage of cases causing obstructive uropathy. We report the case of a 58 year old male diagnosed with imaging of idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis and obstructive uropathy who required bilateral DJ ureteral catheters and treatment with prednisone and tamoxifen with excellent results. At 12 months of treatment almost complete remission of fibrotic plaque is observed and proceeded to the removal of catheters maintaining renal function and maintenance treatment with tamoxifen alone.
