Abstract
WAXS Rotation Topography techniques are capable of precise nondestructive measurement of the fibre topology of CFRP materials and large area components. The fibre directions of sandwich materials are determined at better than 0.1 degree precision, separately for each ply direction and independently for top and bottom laminates. Limitations arise for thick walled components exceeding several centimetres. Further applications with carbon fibre reinforced ceramics, polymer fibre composites and injection moulding plastics with short fibre reinforcement have been tested successfully.
