Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim was to present the results of the valorization of the fiber content in the stem in the collection of Linum usitatissimum L. genetic resources. The research material comprised 79 flax accessions from 5 continents. Genotypes from Europe constituted the most numerous group − 77.2%. The field experiment was carried out at the experimental station in Wojciechów, Poland, in 1983–1985. The variability of the fiber content in the stem ranged from 9.7% – Japonais 647 in 1984 year to 28.5% – Silva in 1983 year. When considering the mean values from 3 years, the range of variation is smaller, but it applies to the same genotypes: Japonais 14.7% – Silva 26.6%. Based on the results of the valorization of the fiber content in the stems, the data of the International Flax Database were developed. The fiber content in the stem of the 79 genotypes was as follows: low − 6 accessions, medium − 30 accessions, high − 39 accessions and very high − 4 flax varieties. The work also presents the passport data of the studied accessions, meteorological data, standard deviation, distribution of coefficient of variation levels and boxplot results of one-way repeated measures ANOVA.
