Abstract

The uterus is the best intensive care unit for the fetus as a patient. In the uterus, it is possible to care for the patient without using an incubator or a respirator. However, in the long history of obstetrics, it has been difficult to monitor fetal conditions except for fetal heart rate monitoring. This was the reason that an obstetrician removes a fetus from the uterus to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) when intensive care is needed.
