Abstract
Recent decades have seen an increase in late parenthood, whether naturally or by means of assisted reproductive technology. With increasing maternal and paternal age the risk of obstetric pathologies increases for mothers, and perinatal pathologies increase for both mothers and offspring. We must consider this when discussing family planning with our patients. What risks must we take into account in this situation? Further research is necessary on the long-term effects of late parenthood on the offspring. We will talk about the correlation between advanced maternal and paternal age and autism spectrum disorders. This topic should be present in the information we give patients who consult us at the pre-conception stage.
