Abstract

The effects of particle shape, particle size, particle-support interaction and incomplete reduction or O 2 -chemisorption on the FMR parameters have been investigated on various supported nickel catalysts and analyzed by the FMR theory for polycrystalline samples in the “independent grain approach”. Samples without important size effect show the influence of anisotropies on line-width, -shape and -position, while small particles seem sensitive to a superparamagnetic decrease of apparent magnetic anisotropy. In some cases, the Curie temperature is shown to vary with particle size.
