Abstract
AbstractWe discuss the structure and electronic properties of ferromagnetic perovskite manganites with general formula Re1−xAexMnO3(Re = La, Pr, Nd and Ae = Ca, Sr, Ba). These magnetic oxides being strongly correlated electronic systems show metal‐insulator and ferro‐paramagnetic phase transitions as well as charge/orbital ordering. Moreover, competition among charge, spin, and lattice degrees of freedom can lead to mesoscopic electronic inhomogeneity known also as electronic phase separation. Focusing on the magnetotransport properties in thin manganite films, we will show how the fundamental phenomena mentioned in the preceding text interplayed with specific thin‐film‐related characteristics like epitaxy stress, growth mode, and microstructure, govern various magnetoresistance (MR) effects—colossal magnetoresistance (CMR), tunneling, and anisotropic MR.
