Abstract

The product obtained by the pyrolysis of the mixture of o,m,p-phenylenediamine (PDA) and 2,4,6-triphenoxy-1,3,5-triazine (TPTA) at 500–1000°C has exhibited a novel ferromagnetic behavior. Especially the pyrolysis at 600°C has been most effective. There exists a remarkable isomer effect of PDA on the magnetic properties obtained by the measurements of the ESR and the M-H curve. The larger values of spin concentration N s (1.18 × 10 19 spins g −1), saturation magnetization M s (6.24 × 10 −1 emu G g −1) and residual magnetization M r (6.65 × 10 −2 emu G g −1) have been evaluated in the sample prepared from TPTA/ m-PDA than those from TPTA/ o-PDA and TPTA/ p-PDA. The results are tentatively discussed in terms of parallel spin orientation of nitrogen radicals.
