Abstract

Electric polarization induced by rotating d.c. magnetic field, magneto-electric (ME) polarization, was measured on magnetite at low temperatures. The ME polarization parallel to the a and b axes were reversed by changing the polarity of electric field applied along the a and b axes, respectively. This gives evidence of ferroelectricity as well as pyroelectricity.
