Abstract
Abstract The structural phase transition in newly found monoclinic TIS has been studied using single crystal X-ray diffraction and dielectric measurements. The room temperature phase is ferroelectric. It has a commensurate structure where satellite reflections are observed at q = (0,0,1/4). Upon heating, it undergoes successive phase transitions around 320 K and 345 K. The intermediate phase is incommensurate. The satellite reflections shift to qi = (0.04,0,1/4). The high temperature phase is paraelectric, where the satellite reflections disappear. The structure changes to the prototypic TlGaSe2 type.
