Abstract

Abstract The domain structure of the orthorhombic room temperature phase of barium sodium niobate is examined by the electron microscopy method. It consists of ferroelectric 180°-domains and ferroelastic domains. The latter ones have the boundaries along ⟨100⟩ and ⟨010⟩ directions as referred to the axes of the tetragonal cell. Antiphase boundaries forming quadruple joins are also observed.
