Abstract
The problem of describing in a systematic fashion anharmonic (Fermi) resonances is addressed in the framework of the one-dimensional vibron model. As a practical example, the resonating manifold of in-plane CH bending modes and CC stretching modes of the ethylene molecule is studied in detail.
