Abstract
Comparable amounts of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) with varying mean particle size (d) in the range of 2.7 ∼60 nm (Au/MOs) by the heating temperature-varied deposition–precipitation method. The Au 4f X-ray photoelectron spectra for the Au/MOs indicate that the electron density or the Fermi energy level of Au NP can be effectively controlled by n-type semiconducting MO supports. Among Au/MOs, Au/SrTiO3 exhibits an extremely high level of thermal catalytic activity for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol analogues to the corresponding benzoic acid analogues at 25 °C in neutral aqueous solution with conversion >99% and selectivity >99%.
