Abstract

In our country, the fact that the conditions of schools differ in the aspects of student characteristics, physical structure, socio-economic level, transportation and so on necessitates the pre-service teachers to graduate with many skills. The one of these skills is to be able to design, develop and use materials. In Education Faculties, teacher candidates prepare and use materials within the scope of Instructional Technologies Material Development (ITMD) course and share this process with their friends. In this research, the materials prepared by the classroom teacher candidates were evaluated with the learning strategies at the end of the process together with their self, peer and teacher evaluations. The research is a descriptive research, and the data were obtained with the relational survey technique. 22 pre-service classroom teacher selected by using homogenous sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods formed the study group. In the scope of the research, “Tool Selection Checklist adapted to Turkish by Yalin (2020) and developed by Newby, Stepich, Lehman, and Russell (1996) and General Learning Strategies Evaluation Scale developed by Ozturk (1995) were used. These obtained results have shown that the materials developed by the teacher candidates were created using printed materials, real objects and slides in the context of remembering and attention strategies. In particular, the materials where affective and cognitive strategies are applied developed less. Besides, it has been determined that the developed materials are designed with the characteristics of being able to be controlled, being able to be seen / touched as real objects, requiring little cost and being suitable for small groups. Despite these advantageous aspects, obstacles have emerged such as the developed material's allowing several participants to react simultaneously, the ability to be easily deleted / rearranged staying at a low level, and the inability to be used independently from teachers.
