Abstract

We present a pump-probe technique that enables to describe the temporal behavior of the phase shift induced by cascaded second-order non-linearities inherent to frequency mixing processes. We have measured this shift for degenerate and non-degenerate frequency summation from femtosecond pulses in a β-baryum borate crystal. We also demonstrate the associate appearance of a non-linear chirp.
