Abstract

Feminist perspective in sociology. The discussion begins with a brief overview over the basic points of departure of feminism as perspective. To establish the feasibility of a feminist perspective in sociology the strenghts and weaknesses of the various strands of feminist theorising within feminism as academic discipline are discussed. This is followed by a discussion of a feminist perspective on academic life as such with the emphasis on the relative invisibility or absence of women in the academic world. The methodological contribution of feminist-sociological research is discussed. In conclusion, it is argued that there is sufficient evidence to propose the acceptance of a feminist perspective in sociology.
