Abstract

There were hens in each pen which laid very few eggs; below is a record by months of the eggs each pen laid. It is claimed by many that the ration has nothing to do with the weights of eggs produced, but results here certainly indicate differently. It is true that farm conditions or free range would not produce results shown by this work. These fowls were confined to small lots and received only those feeds intended for them. Under free range conditions, fowls secure much of other foods through the summer months. This work is intended to show the requirements for laying hens, and to produce accurate data it becomes necessary to restrict the fowls to those feeds intended for them.
