Abstract

This paper proposes a novel reduced feedback-rate transmit diversity scheme employing transmit antenna selection (TAS) and Alamouti scheme yielding robust error performance at erroneous feedback conditions. Under ideal channel estimation and delay-free feedback assumptions, statistical expressions and performance metrics related to the post-processing signal-to-noise ratio of the proposed scheme are derived for Nakagami-m fading channels. Exact expressions for outage probability and bit/symbol error rates of M-ary signals are presented in order to provide an extensive examination on the system performance in the presence of feedback errors (FEs). The proposed scheme is shown to provide not only full-diversity order as the conventional and other reduced feedback-rate schemes for perfect feedback case but also superior error performance in the presence of FEs.
