Abstract
ABSTRACT In October 1997 the Fourth International Conference on Fee-Based Information Services addressed fundamental issues on the global role of these services in libraries. The organizers and participants raised key questions on the future of information delivery in the context of the Web and the growing information economy. Throughout the conference, lively discussions by managers, administrators, and information professionals provided insights into existing and future scenarios. For those who missed the conference, and for library directors and practitioners, this conference overview provides a snapshot of fee-based services as we head into the next century.
