Abstract
The design features of the hot hollow cathode, its thermionic characteristics and current-voltage characteristics of a vacuum arc discharge with plasma-forming gases of helium and argon are considered. The rationale for these characteristics based on the theory of vacuum-arc discharge is given. The article discusses the use of a hollow cathode discharge for processing tantalum powders.
