Abstract

It is still not easy for Chinese performers to find the key to understanding and embodying the content of the works of the great Russian composer S. Rachmaninov, despite more than a century of spread and influence of the Russian school of pianism in China. The reason lies in the deep differences in psychological, cultural, philosophical and social aspects, historically determined by the centuries-old isolation of the cultures of the East from the West. The role of religion in the life of Chinese society, an individual and the culture of the people as a whole should also be noted. Therefore, the problems of performing interpretation are so relevant today in China and are awaiting their solution. The article outlines the ways of performing interpretation of S. Rachmaninov’s piano works based on the listening, analytical and psychological approaches, and also provides examples of successful interpretations of his works by Chinese performers.
