Abstract
AbstractAn Fe/S‐catalyzed approach to 2‐arylbenzazoles from dibenzyl disulfides and o‐nitrophenols/thiophenols/anilines in the presence of base NMP has been developed. The reactions proceeded in moderate to excellent yields with good functional tolerance and gram‐scale application. Mechanistic research indicated that Fe/S clusters play an important role in the formation of products and DMSO is also important to oxidize benzyl mercaptans to give dibenzyl disulfides.
