Abstract

Fe‐based amorphous alloy coatings (Fe‐AACs) have exhibited appropriate corrosion and wear resistance and improve the performance of material surfaces. This study summarizes the advances related to Fe‐based amorphous alloys pertaining to their chemical compositions and manufacturing processes and their associated effect on the amorphous structure, microstructure and properties. In particular, Fe‐based amorphous alloy coatings produced by laser cladding are investigated in order to study the effect of amorphous structure, partial crystallization, and composition on the microstructure, hardness, corrosion and wear resistance of these coatings. In addition, the effect of laser parameters (power and scanning speed) on the geometric and metallurgical characteristics of produced amorphous coatings are also covered. This article is protected by copyright.
