Abstract
Significance This followed allegations by several FDC leaders that party President Patrick Amuriat and Secretary-General Nandala Mafabi received funds from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) to subvert the FDC. Impacts The NRM will seek to exploit the tensions through divide-and-rule tactics. An alliance may form between the Besigye-led faction of the FDC and Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP). Intensifying intra-FDC clashes may result in defections to the NRM.
