Abstract

This paper deals with the fault diagnosis operation of a cement kiln process using structural analysis technique. Graph-based technique of fault detection and isolation is the unique methodology that can cope with the diagnosis design for cement plant which is of highly complexity and non-linearity. Structural analysis is a graph-based powerful tool that helps to analyze the system properties. By generating the Analytical Redundancy Relation (ARR) the fault diagnosis operation is carried out. Structural analysis consists of set of constraints that model the system normal behavior. Fault is the violation of one or more constraints. Structural analysis is able to determine which constraints in the system deviate from normal and determines which faults can be detected and isolated. Other system properties like reachability, monitorability and controllability are also addressed. This technique is performed using SaTool which is a MATLAB based structural analysis tool.
