Abstract
This chapter chronicles Kierkegaard's reconciliation with his father as well as the latter's death, and Kierkegaard's impressions thereof. It recounts his final meeting with his father and how the latter had made a clean breast of his misconduct—which he had been able to recognize as having been the cause, in part, of Kierkegaard's own defection from Christianity. Thereafter the chapter explores Kierkegaard's various tributes to his father after their reconciliation and the latter's death. It also looks into Kierkegaard's mindset regarding his attitudes toward religion after the reconciliation, culminating in a religious, nigh-mystical experience of “indescribable joy” as well as his official return the Church.
