Abstract
Father and Child: Developmental and Clinical Perspectives , edited by Stanley H. Cath, MD, Alan R. Gurwitt, MD, and John Munder Ross, PhD, proves to be an exciting, interesting, and provocative book and can be recommended to a variety of audiences. The credentials of the three editors are impressive, and their skill and literacy are borne out not only in their own individual contributions but in their masterful editing of a large number of authors. Despite the many authors, the quality of the material remains high throughout, again a credit to the editors. The purpose of this collection of essays is to reflect on the significance of the relationship of the father to his children and the child to his father from a strongly psychoanalytic viewpoint and is seen from empirical and clinical as well as speculative aspects.
