Abstract

A hybrid approach is proposed for fast computation of monostatic radar cross section (RCS) of objects. The proposed method applies the singular value decomposition (SVD) to compress the excitation matrix and introduces a new method to construct the characteristic basis functions (CBFs) considering the mutual interaction among blocks. Under such circumstances, the number of matrix equation solutions and the number of CBFs are both significantly reduced. Numerical examples verify and demonstrate that the proposed method is credible both in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
