Abstract
This study aims to examine the sports injury anxiety levels of taekwondo players, which is a psychological factor that causes injury and negatively affects athletes apart from some physical strategies in the prevention of injuries. A total of 617 (326 men and 291 women) taekwondo players actively engaged in sports from different competition categories participated in the study. In the study, as a data collection tool, the "Sports Injury Anxiety Scale" which was developed by Rex and Metzler in 2016 and adapted into Turkish by Caz and ark (2019) was used. Statistical analysis of the data was performed with SPSS 26 program, t-test, and One Way ANOVA tests. When the sports injury anxiety scores of the athletes were compared according to the competition categories, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the youth and the stars and between the youth and the adult category. According to the results of the t-test mean scores of the sub-dimensions of the scale it has been determined that there is a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of anxiety about losing one's ability (SQR), anxiety about being perceived as weak (IQC), anxiety about suffering (PWL), anxiety about disappointing (HCI), anxiety about re-injury (HCI) (p<0.05). However, It was determined that there was a significant difference according to gender in the sub-dimensions of anxiety about losing social support (SDK). A significant difference was found between the anxiety levels of the athletes who had a lower extremity injury before and those who had an upper extremity injury (p<0.05).
