Abstract

We have measured in the far infrared (2-70 cm/sup -1) the difference at various temperatures. The radiation was transmitted through a nonresonant cavity containing several single crystal slabs of V/sub 3/Si usi ng a lamellar grating interferometer in conjunction with a /sup 3/He-cooled tor from the nonresonant cavity. Temperature-dependence measurements have been made up to 30 deg K and no change in the surface impedance was ic phase transition at 21 deg K. There was a alve of the energy gap, extending, at 4.2 deg K, from 12 cm/sup -1/ ( 2 DELTA / sub min = l.0KT/sub c/) to 46 cm/sup -1/ (2 DELTA /sub max/ = 3.8kT/sub c/). (auth)
