Abstract
Eco-friendly photocatalysts with full-spectrum light utilization and all-day-long photocatalytic activities are highly desired for formaldehyde (HCHO) removal. Polydopamine (PDA) is wrapped on the attapulgite (ATP) surface as a fantastic intermediate layer to construct ATP@PDA@CdS photocatalyst with Pt nanoparticles (NPs) as the cocatalyst. PDA is beneficial for homogeneous deposition and dispersion of CdS and Pt NPs and efficient in absorbing the energy beyond ultraviolet light (UV) to produce an excellent photothermal effect for photocatalysis. The reductive surface of PDA can also hinder the photocorrosion of CdS for long-term operation. The factors, such as relative humidity and particle size, affecting the photocatalytic activity and the all-day-long photocatalysis by Pt NPs are also discussed.
