Abstract
Family and community medicine is viewed as the effective concept and organizational vehicle through which comprehensive health care can be realized. The application of several principles of comprehensive health care is illustrated by the Family and Community Medicine Program at the Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pa. This program has successfully marshalled the support and cooperation of individuals and groups from both public and private sectors. Our hospital offers a three-year Residency Program in Family and Community Medicine.
