Abstract

In an electric power system with a large number of renewable energy sources such as wind farms (WFs), the WF's output would be curtailed in order to maintain the supply–demand balance when it is predicted that there would be excess power generation in the entire system. In this case, it is important to ensure fairness among WFs from the viewpoint of the curtailed outputs and to minimize the total of the curtailed power. In this paper, we propose a measure to simultaneously achieve a reduction in curtailed power and a fair upper limit using demand response. The validity of the proposed measures is confirmed by numerical calculations. © 2023 Institute of Electrical Engineer of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
