Factors That Influence the Employment Decision of Minority Students in Seeking Jobs in the Hospitality Industry:

Abstract

This study utilized a survey questionnaire methodology to assess the employment factors that influence the decisions of minority applicants when seeking employment in the hospitality industry. Attitudes of minority students towards the hospitality sectors; Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Food Service were also identified. Overall, students rated institutional food service management below the hotel and restaurant sectors. This may have hiring .implications to the segments within the institutional sector, including college and university food services.
