Abstract

The incidence of stunting in Indonesia among toddlers (aged <5 years) decreased by 30.8%. The incidence of stunting in Aceh was 30.8%. The incidence of stunting in Aceh Besar in 2017 was 31.2%. This shows that the percentage of stunting incidents in Aceh Besar exceeds the tolerance set by WHO, namely a maximum of 20%. Many factors are related to stunting, especially the nutritional intake of toddlers. To determine the factors associated with the incidence of stunting in children aged 3-5 years in Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar district. This research method is analytical with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 53 children aged 3-5 years who experienced stunting. The statistical test used is Chi-Square. The results of statistical tests on factors related to the incidence of stunting were exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.046), complementary foods (p=0.044), knowledge (p=0.017), history of LBW (p=0.000), and income (p=0.040). Exclusive breastfeeding, MP-ASI, nutritional knowledge, history of LBW, and income are related to the incidence of stunting in children aged 3-5 years. It is hoped that the community, especially mothers, will fulfill their children's nutrition by providing exclusive breast milk and providing good MP-ASI, as well as increasing knowledge about toddler nutrition and following programs implemented by the local government to prevent stunting.
