Abstract

During pregnancy, large changes occur in the body of a woman, one of which is a musculoskeletal change. These changes often cause pain in the lower back region, pregnancy exercise can reduce back pain experienced by pregnant women in pregnancy exercise because there is a movement to strengthen the abdominal muscles. This study aims to determine the effect of pregnancy exercise against back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester II and BPM Siti Mahmudah Village Mendalanwangi Wagir District of Malang. This study used an experimental design approach to One Group Pre-test - Post-test. The population in this study were pregnant women in second and third trimesters, corresponding inclusion criteria were 34 people. Sampling was conducted through purposive sampling method with a total sample of 29 pregnant women. Data were collected by using observation sheet. Data were analyzed by statistical test of Wilcoxon signed ranks test. When given a pregnancy exercise for 4 weeks decreased back pain in pregnant women trimester II and III where in 16 (55.2%) respondents who before pregnancy exercise experienced back pain, 14 (85.7%) of them did not experience back pain. The analysis showed a p-value of 0.0001 <0.05, which means that there is a significant effect of treatment on back pain during pregnancy exercise. So it is recommended for pregnant women to exercise during pregnancy as an alternative therapy for reducing pain at home independently and regularly.
