Abstract

ABSTRACT Over the past few decades, the Arab countries, and Kuwait in particular, have seen a robust growth in the role of information and communication technology in several sectors of the economy. However, the growth of technological advancements in Kuwait education sector is not without challenges. This is because information technology (IT) is an investment-intensive venture that needs conscious and concerted effort due to the cultural resistance that often mars the adoption and implementation of IT. The several existing studies exploring this area have all pointed towards such obstacles as gender and age group differences, inadequate teachers or management support, limited availability of training and other assistive services as well as cultural resistance. This study, therefore, will explore the impacts of the four mentioned variables on IT implementation and utilization in the Education sector in Kuwait. Moreover, in this study, data will be generated from a sample size of 300 students from a number of universities in Kuwait. The analysis of the results will be done using the SPSS software. The results of this study showed that these variables have a significant impact on the implementation and use of IT. Furthermore, this study will also examine the advantages of using IT, provides recommendation and guidelines that will enhance IT use within academic institutions. Keywords ICT, IT Usage, Management, IT Training
