Abstract

A facile strategy to prepare hexagonal-phase, monodisperse, size-controlled NaYF4 nanorods has been demonstrated using mixed solvothermal route. Doping of Gd3+ dramatic shorten the reaction time on cubic-to-hexagonal phase transition for preparing hexagonal phase NaYF4 nanocrystals. The crystalline phase, size, morphology, and luminescence properties were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and photoluminescence (PL) spectra.
