Abstract

An aqueous reduction-precipitation method was reported for the synthesis of BiCuOS nanoparticles with size of several hundred nanometers. The reaction was performed under low temperature by reducing thiourea-copper complex to [Cu2S2]2−, followed by precipitation with [Bi2O2]2+. The as-synthesized BiCuOS exhibited full spectrum absorption properties and excellent visible-light induced photocatalytic activity. This study reveals that BiCuOS is a promising candidate for photocatalytic application.
