Abstract

In the present work, CaWO4 nanoparticles have been synthesized via a facile sonochemical reaction and bis-(2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde)-butanediamine Schiff base ligand as a new capping agent. The effect of different surfactant such as SDS, PEG and CTAB to the morphology of CaWO4 nanoparticles were studied by SEM images. Furthermore, photocatalyst activity of products were investigated by photodegradation of methyl orange dye test. The as-synthesized products were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, and UV–Vis techniques. The synthesis process, using low-toxic chemicals, is easily reproducible and can be readily extended to larger scales of an aqueous synthesis of CaWO4 nanoparticles.
