Abstract

The vacuum-formed matrix has been applied in the fabrication of provisional restorations for about three decades,1-5 but for long-span provisional restorations with multiple pontics, excessive shrinkage of cold-curing acrylic resin in the pontic area is still a problem. The following procedure uses denture teeth in the pontic area, and the provisional restorations are fabricated with an indirect technique. This procedure can reduce the bulk of the cold-curing acrylic resin and can improve the situation with the reduction of excessive shrinkage of the provisional restorations.
