Abstract
In this study, electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of nano-cobalt oxide (Co3O4) particle (30nm) was investigated to develop coatings with potential applications in many fields. Nano-Co3O4 particles were suspended in mixture of acetylacetone and ethanol and stable suspensions were obtained. The deposits were characterized qualitatively by X-ray diffraction, SEM observations and EDS analysis. The coating growth rate was varied by different deposition times in the range of 1–30min at voltages of 100–150V. Results of this study demonstrate that EPD is a feasible method of fabricating nano-Co3O4 coating which is of potential interest in gas sensors, heterogeneous catalysts, supercapacitors and many other applications.
