Fabrication and mechanical properties of functionally graded materials: A review

Abstract

Despite many studies in the field of materials, conventional materials such as alloys and composites could not cope with the customers' tailored-made requirements; in those cases, functionally graded materials with controlled constituent's gradation to develop the required properties in the material. The review paper demonstrates the research work carried out in functionally graded materials. The present review mainly focuses on processing techniques with critical parameters of powder metallurgy, spark plasma sintering, centrifugal casting, Additive manufacturing, and Electrophoretic process.
