Abstract

In this paper, we are reporting the fabrication andthe characterization of a CdS/CdTe based hetero-junction thin film solar cell. Indium tin oxide (ITO) and aluminum (Al) were used as front and back contacts respectively. CdS, CdTe and Al were coated on ITO coated glass substrate by using thermal coating unit. Here in CdS/CdTe based hetero-junction solar cell, CdS acts as window layer and CdTe acts as absorbing layer. Optical characterization such as transmission, reflection, absorption were carried out to determine the band gap of CdTe and CdS which observed to be 1.32 eV and 2.38eV respectively. SEM and I-V characterization were performed to investigate the structural and electrical properties of the heterojunction solar cell.
