Abstract
Intraligamentary pregnancy is a rare condition; an early diagnosis is possible only when the possibility of this condition occurring is kept in mind. In most cases, diagnosis is made only during surgery. Transvaginal sonography and magnetic resonance imaging may help to make an early diagnosis. Management is early surgical intervention irrespective of period of gestation. The ideal surgery is to remove the entire sac-fetus and placenta after tying all feeding vessels. We report an interesting and rare case of intraligamentary pregnancy presenting at term. The diagnosis was missed even at laparotomy because the condition was never suspected. The uterus was thought to be a fibroid and the ovular sac was mistaken for the uterus. The diagnosis became evident only while performing hysterectomy for uncontrolled postpartum hemorrhage at relaparotomy. The presenting features, diagnostic techniques, and principles of management of intraligamentary pregnancy are discussed. (J GYNECOL SURG 131)
