Abstract

Key Messages Extreme weather events observed since the mid‐20th century have had major impacts on coastal regions in northeastern New Brunswick. Joint use of data from newspaper archives and meteorological stations make it possible to better quantify the number, frequency, and impacts of major extreme events. Results could inform and help land‐use planning and management efforts to reduce societal vulnerabilities facing extreme events in coastal regions.
