Abstract

This report illustrates a proven rare case of retroperitoneal extrarenal Wilms’ tumor, and discusses the radiological features of this tumor, for a 19 month old female patient referred to our radiology department with an abdominal mass for further evaluation. Abdominal Ultrasound, Computed Tomography and abdominal Magnetic Resonance Imaging were performed and showed right upper quadrant abdominal mass, displaying right kidney upward and extended to the spinal canal at that level. The case was discussed thoroughly. Our preliminary diagnosis was in favor of neurogenic tumor and neuroblastoma was on the top of our differential diagnosis. Histopathological examination of the surgically excised tumor confirmed the diagnosis of extrarenal Wilms' tumor. Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy was performed. During the following 24 months, no local recurrence or distant metastasis were detected.
